BEARPAW loves to get involved with the community, especially when it comes to charitable causes. It’s a year-round endeavor, but I wanted to call attention to a very special Lady Foot Locker holiday boot giveaway the brand participated in (alongside collaborator Karina Smirnoff) to distribute free BEARPAW boots to needy women. How cool is it for a large company like LFL to get involved with a charitable group Women in Need to host an event that produces immediate, direct results in the form of a straight-up practical and stylish gift to over 1,000 women in need across the five boroughs of New York? Yes, you heard us right! BEARPAW Footwear opens its first retail location today, Friday December 16 , 2011, in Citrus Heights, CA.

Aptly named “The Summit,” the store is designed to reflect the brand’s connection with the “Lake Tahoe lifestyle,” and was crafted to look and feel like a like a rustic ski lodge. Handmade solid wood doors welcome customers into a room featuring wood paneled ceilings, slate floors, wrought iron chandeliers and leather furniture, with a massive stone fireplace anchoring the back wall. The Summit will serve as the inspiration for BEARPAW Village, a collection of restaurants and shops due to open in conjunction with the new BEARPAW retail store. Currently, the shopping center where the new store is opening plays host to BEARPAW Footwear’s corporate offices and several restaurants. The five-acre parcel is owned by BEARPAW CEO Tom Romeo who plans to rejuvenate the local economy in the area by making BEARPAW Village a place people want to come to and stay for a while.

Going to a BEARPAW party is always emotional for me. Perhaps it’s because I get to see dear friends like company owner Tom Romeo. Perhaps it’s because I’m a foodie and the food is always sensational. This party, however, was more emotional than usual, because it allowed me to be reunited with my twin brother Nigel.

My brother is many things, but a dancer is not one of them. Nevertheless, he has persisted in dancing with the stars, regardless of injury to his person and/or reputation. He pulled something during a lesson with the always-gracious Karina Smirnoff, yet he was back in the saddle last month at the BEARPAW Summer Blast on Melrose. He served as co-host of the event, which combined rare deals on boots and shoes with activities and a contest benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood. Read More | Comments

karina-smirnoff-bearpaw-summer-blast-sportie-la-24 Karina Smirnoff brought her style and warmth to the BEARPAW Summer Blast Event, where the music was bumping and the BEARPAW boots were on display. The event took place Sunday, August 14 at Sportie LA, showcasing BEARPAW’s new styles, including the Alyeska designed by Karina herself. It’s as comfortable as every BEARPAW boot, using suede and knit materials for a modern, sexy look. You can also scrunch the boot down or wear it up to your mid-calf. Attendees at the one-day sale stocked up on great pairs of year-round BEARPAW boots in all styles and sizes.

The hottest indie sneaker retailer and your favorite boot brand came together on Saturday August 6 for the Cause Just 4 Paws charity event. Hosted by Sportie LA, with gift baskets courtesy of BEARPAW Footwear, the daylong event combined activities with a call to action.

The event — organized to help rescue dogs in LA — entertained guests with a doggie fashion show, an area designated for celebrity gifting, an open bar, live performances by Black Cloud Collective and Suddyn, DJ Wunder spinning on the turntables and a live broadcast by Spittin Venom Radio Show. “Try to stay sane, that’s the way to approach it,” jokes Randy McKinley, VP of Sales & Marketing for BEARPAW. He’s talking about MAGIC, the apparel industry’s sprawling trade show, and the site of an event unique to the business: a signing party for a new R&B CD produced by BEARPAW. Migrating across the country, MAGIC made stops in cities like Denver, Los Angeles, and, in this case, Las Vegas, where exhibitors, reps, buyers, bloggers, and industry icons congregated to check out upcoming styles of boots, shoes, sneakers, footwear accessories, and apparel. In Sin City, BEARPAW’s booth served as a showcase for the brand’s wares by day and a lounge by night.

Rick Fox and Bai Ling Jamie Foxx gave a concert and Diddy hosted a bash, and rumor has it there was some kind of game on Sunday, but undoubtedly one of the places to be throughout NBA All-Star weekend was Sportie LA, where BEARPAW was one of the signature sponsors of a three-day block party that had the town buzzing. VIPs like Justin Bieber, Rick Fox, Amber Rose, and Bai Ling were treated to a BEARPAW’s, loving the Viper, Sienna, and other styles (not to mention the BEARPAW backpack!), and participating in a hoops competition benefiting the UN Foundation’s Nothing but Nets.  That organization was a co-sponsor of the event, along with SLAM Magazine, the official bible of basketball fans everywhere.
