Our final day of the BEARPAW shoot we got a very late start. Since this was our last day, and flights needed to be caught later in the evening, our call time was 7 AM. I think whoever chose that early in the morning was also a masochist, but that is pure conjecture.

Sublime was in town the night before which of course means a lot of debauchery…. for everyone else, classic music performed by a classic band was all the excitement that we were looking for. Unfortunately, some people can’t handle theirs, and one of our models found that out first hand. An unprovoked punch to the face and a black eye later, caused for a little bit of anxiety on our final morning in Tahoe. During our morning meeting not only did we have to do “damage control” to a model’s face, but our photographer was sick in bed with the Flu. Not to worry, the resilience of BEARPAW & Sportie LA Media couldn’t be stopped no matter what curve balls were thrown our way. We had an amazing make-up artist who worked her magic, and there was no sign of a black eye or hurt pride to be found. Phew!! In typical BEARPAW style we had plenty of talent waiting for the opportunity if situations came about like this. Oh yeah, and we found not one, but two fill-in photographers! They were an awesome married couple that worked beautifully together. Double phew!! Read More | Comments

Yes, you heard us right! BEARPAW Footwear opens its first retail location today, Friday December 16 , 2011, in Citrus Heights, CA.

Aptly named “The Summit,” the store is designed to reflect the brand’s connection with the “Lake Tahoe lifestyle,” and was crafted to look and feel like a like a rustic ski lodge. Handmade solid wood doors welcome customers into a room featuring wood paneled ceilings, slate floors, wrought iron chandeliers and leather furniture, with a massive stone fireplace anchoring the back wall. The Summit will serve as the inspiration for BEARPAW Village, a collection of restaurants and shops due to open in conjunction with the new BEARPAW retail store. Currently, the shopping center where the new store is opening plays host to BEARPAW Footwear’s corporate offices and several restaurants. The five-acre parcel is owned by BEARPAW CEO Tom Romeo who plans to rejuvenate the local economy in the area by making BEARPAW Village a place people want to come to and stay for a while.

“Try to stay sane, that’s the way to approach it,” jokes Randy McKinley, VP of Sales & Marketing for BEARPAW. He’s talking about MAGIC, the apparel industry’s sprawling trade show, and the site of an event unique to the business: a signing party for a new R&B CD produced by BEARPAW. Migrating across the country, MAGIC made stops in cities like Denver, Los Angeles, and, in this case, Las Vegas, where exhibitors, reps, buyers, bloggers, and industry icons congregated to check out upcoming styles of boots, shoes, sneakers, footwear accessories, and apparel. In Sin City, BEARPAW’s booth served as a showcase for the brand’s wares by day and a lounge by night.

Rick Fox and Bai Ling Jamie Foxx gave a concert and Diddy hosted a bash, and rumor has it there was some kind of game on Sunday, but undoubtedly one of the places to be throughout NBA All-Star weekend was Sportie LA, where BEARPAW was one of the signature sponsors of a three-day block party that had the town buzzing. VIPs like Justin Bieber, Rick Fox, Amber Rose, and Bai Ling were treated to a BEARPAW’s, loving the Viper, Sienna, and other styles (not to mention the BEARPAW backpack!), and participating in a hoops competition benefiting the UN Foundation’s Nothing but Nets.  That organization was a co-sponsor of the event, along with SLAM Magazine, the official bible of basketball fans everywhere. Emma Tall We’ll let you in on a little secret: you don’t have to love wine to love Sonoma, California. This is not to say that there isn’t some fantastic vino to be found! But it’s a place of natural beauty, crisp clean air, and breathtaking sunsets.

It’s no surprise that BEARPAW chose Sonoma as the locale for its Fall/Winter collection shoot. When the brand was launched, it embraced the mantra “Live Life Comfortably” but that was only the beginning. BEARPAW has evolved into a lifestyle of its own.
