1 – Your mother thinks brunch is lame. But sadly, it has essentially become synonymous with Mother’s Day. If you absolutely insist on taking mom out for brunch, she is secretly wishing you would do so at a place that doesn’t use $6.00 champagne for their bottomless mimosas.

2 – Your mother doesn’t want you to buy her flowers. The reason is because your father is clueless about what to get her, so he always defaults to buying her flowers. Since your father has horrible taste, the flowers from him will be disgraceful. So if you also buy your mother flowers, they will be far more fragrant and beautiful, causing all sorts of unspoken awkwardness as the two bouquets sit side-by-side for 12 days.

3 – Your mother is embarrassed by your homemade Mother’s Day cards. They were sort of cute when you were little, but you’re 33 now. It’s time to retire your colored pencils. And even when you were younger and attempted to honor her with what is basically nothing but a testament to your lack of artistic ability, a small piece of her died inside when she realized you were such a hack. It’s time to loosen the purse strings and spend that $4.99 on a card that some guy in a cubicle at a Hallmark office somewhere wrote (without every meeting either of you) to explain to your mother how you feel about her. Trust me; you’re way better off letting the professionals take a guess at your feelings about your mom.

4 – Your mother wants a pair of BEARPAW MOC IIs in the “Rose” color. Shameless plug? Maybe. But after giving you the first three for free, I felt I had earned a little room to make a pitch.

Don’t you just love that awkward silence that rings through the office? A few coughs and sneezes is the only audio that one gets during a 40 hour week in some of the most boring offices in America. Well, we here at BEARPAW Style are living a fun office life- we have music playing and jokes going all day, everyday. Work – This is your month to be bold, so whenever your boss assigns you a project, respond loudly by saying, “YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!” For the truly bold you can add, “And don’t touch me there …”

Love – Love can be a harsh mistress, but you got your groove on this month. And it’s not just because it’s your birthday. It’s because you’re hot. And yes, your BEARPAWs may have something to do with that.

Style – Put away that fur coat and get a pedicure because it’s time to sport the BEARPAW Aaliyah’s. Get the flax color because your birthstone is Emerald, but being too matchy matchy just ain’t your style. This soft green can go with just about any outfit. Want extra credit? During winter, as I wait for the first flowers to blossom, I dream away to a tropical place where I have no obligations, other than finishing my latest novel while sipping on a margarita. I picture myself dressed in all the colors of the rainbow, dancing at the local beach bar. Nothing says summer more than color, so what could be more appropriate than delivering a color punch for this week’s BEARPAW Style Tracks? The hot pink BEARPAW AALIYAH sandals just make me happy, and is one of the few flip-flops I’d walk a mile in. I’d wear them with other bright shades of orange or red to add for a perfect summer goddess touch!

Knowing what I know now, I have put together a short list of items I would change, should I come back in the next life without my sex tackle.

1 – I would wear less makeup.  You may not believe us, but the less makeup, the better.  I know Cover Girl and Lancome are going to slash my tires, but it’s true.  Honestly, most makeup smells like that resin on my dentist’s rubber gloves.  And, lipstick smells (and tastes) like crayons.  Additionally, I have never once heard a guy say, “I wish she would pile on tons more makeup.”

2 – I would stop saying that I wish more men would dress like Chuck Bass.  Until we get “Entourage money,” we probably won’t be wearing any Zegna suits anytime soon.  Second, wearing a tie is uncomfortable.  Moreover, proper bow ties are roughly $75, which is ridiculous for that small slither of fabric.  It’s not happening.  Come to terms.

3 – All stilettos would be donated to Goodwill faster than you could say, “bunion surgery.”  I’m not going to lie, heels can be sexy sometimes.  But, if you think I would ever consider walking, walking while texting, standing in line, standing in line while texting, dancing, or dancing while texting in dangerously high death spikes, you’ve had six too many Skinnygirl Cocktails.

4 – The void in my shoe game left by donating all of my heels would be filled with more comfortable choices.  Namely, the BEARPAW Demi, Chloe, Capulet, Bison and Aster.  Whether it be shopping, skiing, or speed dating, I feel like I would have every possible situation covered with that starting five.

Ladies, we appreciate all you go through on a daily basis to be so fabulous.  Just know that if you chose a more comfortable approach, we wouldn’t be mad at all.

Take care of those feet ladies.  To our credit, men will occasionally rub certain things on a woman; it’s just never their feet.

BEARPAW BISON

The  BEARPAW Bison boots are my favorite winter boots, and because of my flawless sense of style, they’re my faves for the summer too. Looking at this outfit, I almost wish winter had stayed a little longer. Wear your Bison’s with cable knit tights, a knitted tunic, winter coat, and earmuffs during the winter, and you’ll definitely stand out (in a good way). But then again, there’s nothing sexier than a complete mismatch. Take a light summer tunic, pair it with the Bison’s, add the right amount of bracelets, and you’re officially ready for summer 2012. I think I’m ready to let go of winter.

I am the modern man. I play sports, I watch sports, I read, I tweet, and I watch “Bethenny Ever After” on Bravo. When it comes to fashion, I give myself a 7/10. I take chances here and there, but not enough to land in the 80-90th percentile. For the most part, I keep my style game airtight with proven classics

I like to think that I am not influenced by those around me, but there are so many stylish people in L.A. that I sometimes find myself mentally keeping score of everyone’s fashion points like an Olympic judge (not a French one). Occasionally, It’s kind of cool to be the only one wearing a certain style, but when it isn’t retro, it isn’t ironic and it isn’t fashion-forward, sometimes you’re just struggling. Having been a sneakerhead my entire life, I noticed when I got to L.A. that sneakers were not sported as much in the restaurants and clubs as their dressier, sexier, more sophisticated siblings. The day finally came that I realized I needed to take a look at upgrading my style, or risk forever looking like I was stuck in an episode of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” from 1994.

Don’t get me twisted, I still wear sneakers. And I will never Ebay my collection. But, sometimes you need to throw on something a little more sophisticated for a first date, or to meet her parents.

So, I went looking for other options.

As search criteria, I asked myself the following questions:

1 – “What do I enjoy wearing?”

2 – “What will make women want to bang me?”

3 – (That was pretty much it).

And so the search was on.

It should be said that boot shopping for men can be tricky. For years, all we had were stylish boots that made you look like Will Truman from “Will & Grace” and comfortable/practical boots that made you look like a carpenter. I mean, I’m not trying to look like a construction foreman, but I’m not trying to look like Tom Brady out here either.

These days, there are brands that offer more trendy looking options without sacrificing comfort, warmth, and practicality. After personally giving Google a colonic, I found BEARPAW. While perusing their Men’s line, I ultimately decided on the “Mark” in the brown colorway. I do not do well with tall boots of any sort, so I found the height of the “Mark” immediately attractive. The small design elements on the toe and strap give them just the right touch of masculinity. I also find them to be very comfortable and warm (which is nice for someone like me who always has cold feet).

And because I have “popsicle foot,” I generally wear two pairs of socks around the house when the temperature drops low like a “dancer.” So when I saw that BEARPAW also offers house slippers, I added a pair of Pacifics to my order quicker than you can say “foot bath.”

I have had my BEARPAW Marks and Pacifics for a few weeks now and can honestly say I am completely satisfied. I might also go as far as to say I am flirting with fashion’s 80th percentile. All in all, it has made me a BEARPAW convert. My only question to you is “What in the hell are you waiting for?”
